The truth about ADs

I’m sure that’s what they taught him. Really, it doesn’t make sense though. By restricting access and creating artificial scarcity you’re driving business to the flippers.

It’s supply and demand 101. If Rolex primary objective was to stunt the flipper market, they could drop prices 10% and flood the market. They have the power to destroy the flippers.

The real reason they do this is it’s a psychological game with your ego. Going in and filling out a card isn’t much commitment. It’s not something you need to think if you’re ready or not. When you “get that call” you’ve been chosen. You don’t want to blow this “opportunity”.

Yet another reason that I’ve lost interest in ever purchasing a Rolex. I will not wait until some AD deems me worthy to purchase one. Also, as I’ve studied and learned more about the industry & other brands there are so many other timepieces that are exceptionally made and worth my investment.

It’s a gimmick and for the majority, it works. Micros like doing the early bird or preorder discounts. Which sounds nice at first, but really if you can sell it for $300 and make money do you really gotta squeeze us for $400 if we’re late to the party? Seiko and their everything is limited edition. Swatch does the slow roll out, create a frenzy we’re people stand in line 10 hours .
