Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
Have always been fascinated with watches but really got into it a few years back when I noticed one with a shiny blue and red bezel and thought that looked fun to wear. Never found out what that was exactly but been reading, watching, absorbing, and getting what I can since.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
The first watch I ever received as a gift was a semi dark aqua blue transluscent case G Shock. The first hand me down watch I got was my fathers early 2000’s Tag Heuer Formula 1. The first watch I ever bought for myself was a Seiko 5 Sea Urchin Pepsi.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
While I was at work wearing my first Seiko 5. I decided to fight a tile and lost. No really, I was counting tiles and while finishing one stack I turned around swinging my arms a little too fast and hit the edge of a tile leaving a gash in the bezel and glass. Asked a Seiko service center to repair or replace the parts but told me it will cost as much as getting a new one. So I did. Another Seiko 5, the new one with a hard coating, ready for whenever I decide to fight a tile again.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy what you want with what you can. Not what others want with what you can’t.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Tudor! In fact, the day I joined this platform is the day I got my North Flag!
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
A Rolex Gmt Master II with a blue and red bezel in a jubilee bracelet. It’s a great reward and reminder for myself that I’m doing good so far. I started getting into watches because of a blue and red bezel and that Rolex is the most premium one I know, but I’ll be happy with any from the model line up.
