Can you imagine life without a Casio?

Casio has been a part of my life for such a long time.

My first watch - F-8 bought in 1980. I wore this for 12 years!

My first musical instrument - VL1 also bought in 1980. Despite having no musical talen whatsoever I loved this thing!

My first big boy calculator - FX-451m bought in 1985. Still use it at work occasionally.

Then I went about 30 years without a Casio in my life, I guess because I had the mechanical watch bug. About 5 years ago, I happened to read about Kikuo Ibe and this special edition watch the GWX-5600

I loved how it was so small, light, tough and yet packed full of tech. The closest I could find that was available at the time was a GW-5610 with the inverted LCD and white colourway which I imported from Japan.

Now this is the state of my Casio collection, the last one added yesterday...

As well as the 5610 detailed above, each has a story

The 5600 square was the first Casio watch I bought in order to mod.

The Royale was bought for my father in law, but he didn't want it as he loves his F-91W. He is one of these very rare one-watch collection people. I did the pencil eraser mod to clean up the case.

The EFV-100 was bought because I had the curved rubber strap and I had a sense it would look good on this colourway.

The GBD-H1000 because it is like a smartwatch with a matrix display, but never needs charging when used for timekeeping. It is also so easy to read in any lighting conditions, better than any digital watch I have owned.

The GR-B200RAF Typhoon. I bought this after I saw a real life Typhoon at the Imperial War Museum. Even though the Typhoon only entered service in 2004, they have one where the airframe has already reached its maximum service time.

The GM2100 I rebought in a colourway I could read!

No matter which direction my watch collection goes in the future, I can't imagine not owning at least one Casio...

Cool collection, and story.

I can easily imagine life without a Casio, up until last summer I'd never owned one. I don't wear the one I currently own either, so I am still essentially living without a Casio.

Having a Casio should be in human rights law 😂
