Bel Canto - same bird, new plumage?

Image

Folks

Just got this from the CW mailshot. The first Bel Canto drop came and went so fast I had missed it entirely. I have had time to follow the hype, and was thinking about looking in again at restock. If you look carefully at the CW logo, the St George Cross gives away the four new colourways, purple, sand, aqua blue and grey maybe?

So I am thinking

  • Time to give some real thought as to whether I love this watch, or whether I am drawn in my the hype, as this is not the normal sort of thing I go for
  • Buying this means if I get the call from the AD for my OP36, I would have to borrow money to have both, which I said I would never do for my watch collection
  • 3pm on GMT on a Thursday is the most critical part of my week at work. We check our plans for stereotactic radiosurgery, the most precise (and most risky) type of treatment we do in our department. I couldn't have a browser window open at the same time as being on my A game at work

What a dilemma!

Get a med student to watch the browser so you can focus on your preop planning. I had a urologist send me to pick up his car at the shop for the same reason back when I was a student. Because the Bel Canto looks so different, just tell them it’s a key piece of medical equipment.

(I think my old teaching award just fell off the wall 😉).

Personally, I would never borrow money to buy any watch. I would only borrow if 0% interest for however long you are comfortable stretching those payments.

From a Christopher Ward standpoint, they value the customer to the point where they always meet or exceed demand (which I love). That is to say the watch will probably depreciate in value if you are okay with that.

I would assume these are the four new colors. Hope this helps!

Fantastic - thanks. None of those colourways as nice as the original blue. Makes it easier for me on Thursday I guess!

Yeah; the one I would consider is the light blue as I think it would look better on a wrist and maybe a nice leather strap would be pretty sharp.  I do not think I could pull of the purple, know I can't pull off the rosa (I can do salmon but mainly with vintage) and not a fan of the black.

Any may I offer if you go the med student route maybe offer them a nice gshock as payment for them and also a way to get them into the hobby :-)

This. They are simply making the pre/orders previously available public. They Lso included the colors in the email logo.

This is indeed the public release of what we got a few weeks back (see my post on that). I was a bit surprised by these 4 color ways which are way more « out there » than the initially blue and green (my personal favorite). In a way I salute CW for those daring colors but I would have liked to see more ”classic” colors as the dial design is already quite something. i decided not to pull the trigger as I want to first see how these 4 new colors will look in real life. They will not be limited although the production is made on first come first serve model which means we might have to wait long to get one. Let us know what you end up getting :)

i have never contemplated borrowing moment to buy a watch, that must be my European side speaking 😅 that said, should I be on the waitlist for a Rolex and my AD would call me, I would have a very hard time to pass on it.

Call CW and see if they have one at their showroom. They are nice people. If you can make your schedules work - go try one on. If you like it more than the OP then wait for it - there’ll be another release in a couple of months - gives you time to save up some more. They’re not going anywhere

I also got an email from CW. How does the preordering system work? Just click the link they sent on Jan. 19 9pm GMT?

Some help would be much appreciated.

That's a good idea. About a 2 hour drive. Having slept on it I am not going for these new colourways on the Thursday drop, but to see a Bel Canto might be nice.

There’s no indication that these will be limited in releases - just the actual production takes time. It’s about a 5-10 min walk from the train station if you don’t fancy driving (the new Elizabeth line goes straight the from Paddington now too).
