Personally, I don't cast any shade on people collecting less expensive pieces. Sometimes I even think that you guys are the "real" watch fans: I have to begrudgingly admit, that brand value, price stability and recognition are points of consideration in a watch purchase for me. Putting less emphasis on those factors, but being able to enjoy watches for what they are, seems to be a purer and freer form of appreciation.
People who are collecting more, but less expensive watches: Do you actually prefer them to other (maybe more expensive) models? Because obviously it's not about not being able to afford them (20x300$ is still a chunk of money). Do you just enjoy owning many watches?
If you like a particular style, why would you buy something that you don't love as much? This whole "diver, dresser, beater" thing always came across like a justification and an overcomplication ... almost like an excuse.
