That 300 is gorgeous!

It's like Porsche cars...when you have a near perfect design, there's no need to mess with it.

·

Beautiful 😍 - love 'em both!

Heres my Omega's

That Seamaster 300 is fire … I have a 2531.80 but would love an earlier Seamaster. That’s a great Hodinkee video on the history of the SM.. from the Meister to current models. Worth a watch

2531.80 is a great watch! Was it your first Omega?

As for the Hodinkee video, it didn’t feel like a proper reference points to me. Most notably the 165.024 which they always refer to as 164.024 (posthumously corrected on the article!) Also those line of late 60’s Seamasters 300 could be discussed in one episode alone. There’s so much nuance and variables from bezel inserts and movements like the Cal 552 variation for American market due to Fordney-McCumber Tariff act requiring watches from Switzerland to be subjected to higher levels of import tax. Reducing 24 to 17 jewels remedies that. Essentially Omega just put in Cal 550 in place of the 552. There’s a lot more and it’s a missed opportunity for Hodinkee.

My first Omega.. would love to add to it, especially the 2254.50 or the 2234.50 GMT or the Aqua Terra perhaps.. it’s always a balance between money and time though

I always wanted a 2254. Maybe someday.

Where's the hodinkee article you all are referring to?

I am waiting on the day that Omega re-makes the 300. Come on Omega. We’re all waiting!

Love it. Great shot too

I’d definitely pick one up in a heartbeat. Hope it’s not going to be any thicker or larger than what it is now. Not sure if they will keep the Bakelite insert but big no to ceramic. Movement wise, the Cal. 552 is great for its time, but a coaxial with spirate system is a welcome change. Lastly, hope it’s not too pricey.

Yes and no. While that watch does share the name, there’s hardly any design elements that make it a re-make or re-issue (whatever term you want to use) of the reference 165.024 watch. The case shape, hands, and bezel are two completely different designs entirely from one another. The current heritage is an amazing watch in its own right, but it is not the same as the watch one the left of the picture.

He was referring to the 165.024 line.

I always owned up to being an Omega Fanboy, but I just found out that I was really a Seamaster fetishist

Gold dress (mid '70s?) & Dad's Chronograph ('72'3) on left.

My just purchased Planet Ocean next to them.

An older (pre-'15l Planet Ocean

My Precious...Aqua Terra (last year)

Yes, The Seamaster Line is as varied as it is iconic. And always Beautiful.
