I love the idea of my own movement and energy going into a watch, and that just picking it up can breath life into what was a static object just moments before. And then passing that watch onto my kids to experience for themselves.

Have about 30 myself, with favor given to the tool watches for office and casual wear. I break them down into 4 watch boxes, spending the most time curating the “tool box,” while sometimes picking from the “dress box” or “casual box” and little attention to the “overflow box.” This helps narrow my focus to the main box.

Had my Rolex engraved as an heirloom. Last name in the center with larger font, with my first name and year acquired at the 12 o’clock position in a gentle arc to follow the case back perimeter. When I hand down each of my watches to my kids, I’ll add their name and year given at the 6 o’clock spot.

Dumb question: is it a Zodiac thing to have only the “30” marking on the bezel? It seems a bit lonely by itself. Striking color otherwise.

Getting the first watch box was the worst acquisition of all for this hobby. My whole wrist/life revolves around those slots, whether they’re empty or full.
