Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I always liked watches as a kid starting with the Casio F-91 I wore non-stop until eventually the crystal started fogging. In 2008 I got my first automatic, not on purpose, but out shopping with my girlfriend on Valentine's day. I got her a watch and she thought it was only right that I upgrade my destroyed timex ironman, so we walked around the mall and I picked out a Citizen 8200 with a sapphire caseback. I had never realized that this was even a thing! In 2014 I discovered r/watches through posts on r/buyitforlife and that got me way deeper into the hobby.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Casio F91 or something equivalent way back when I was a little kid.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

After a long time hunting, I found a birthMONTH watch - serial # is from birth year, and papers are from the right month in the same year. Still hunting for a birthDAY watch. If I ever find one of those it will be an instant buy.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Buy what you like and don't be afraid of smaller watches.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

My last two pickups were Glasshutte Original and Cartier. Still looking at those brands. Also looking at Vintage Heuer and either a gold world time watch from either JLC or Tissot.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Patek Philippe World Time. I like to think of myself as an international person and this watch would be the icing on the cake. I'm not sure it will happen though because whenever I think about the price tag I can't help think you can get a pretty decent car for that money!
