Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I currently own 7 watches from different brands, am I a watch collector yet? I am not sure but I am definitely gravitating towards acquiring vintage pieces or any watches that has a classic appeal (dress watch, yes, that's the word)

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

The first watch that I have ever owned was a chronograph watch on rubber strap by Emporio Armani. It was given to me by my father and that was 18 years ago.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

That would be my Longines Hydroconquest 41mm, Ceramic. 3 years ago, I went to the Longines Boutique at my favorite shopping mall to purchase my first Longines watch... once I arrived at the boutique and tried on the watch, it was like a dream came true, only when I started to pay for it, my card was declined multiple times. With no choice, I had to approach to the nearest ATM machine to withdraw cash but my daily limit "slap" me in the face and I was several thousands short.... Then, my girlfriend came to the rescue: she took out an envelop which contained several hundreds US dollars (she has the habit of keeping different monetary currencies in her bag due to her formal job as an air stewardess), we went to the nearest money changer and she handed me the cash and said "let's go" (I literally felt like I was the happiest man of the day). At last, I managed to purchase the watch in cash (I paid my girlfriend a day after of course). Yup, a story behind the watch, a bizarre one.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Look for the right size, not just on the watch's diameter, but the lug-to-lug measurement too.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Cartier. I bought myself a Cartier Tank Must SolarBeat (Large model) last week, I am still over the moon about acquiring it.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Cartier Santos-Dumont. In my opinion, it is the classiest sport watch I have ever seen: Satin-brushed silver sun-burst dial, Roman numerals, blued-steel sword-shaped hands, beaded crown with cabochon-shaped spine on a leather strap; what could go wrong. Most importantly, it is attainable.
