A gift from my father for my 16th birthday was a Rolex 5513 Submariner. I was raised in Geneva, so it was quite common for local kids to have a "good watch" at that age, and Rolex was certainly not at the time the luxury brand it is today, at least not in Switzerland.

A basic blue Swatch. My first good watch was a Rolex 5513 Submariner.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I have a Jaeger Reverso with a cloisonné enamel dial from the 1950s. The interesting thing about this watch is that the dial was made after a picture of my grandfather playing tennis.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy first what you love and can afford. Your passion for watches is not correlated to the price of your watch.
