I am new to watch collecting and bought my first watch - Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic (grey) - this year. Over the future years I plan on expanding my collection. Aesthetically I’m into a watch that is well made and nice looking to wear and that I like rather than being swept into a name for the sake of it.

Truly luxury to me means very high end in which case $2k is too low a budget unless you get a really good 2nd hand deal.
If you love the diver look, want to save a lot of money and want new then I’d look into the Seiko Prospex range. Great looking divers IMO and you can pay a bit more (still under $2k) to get some limited or special versions.
