Clasp & Strap Help! 🤔

Hi crunchers! I have a deep lack of words today, having real trouble figuring out what I need! English is not my 1st language, so bear with me will you? I have been experimenting with bracelets and straps lately and got me this deployable clasp. It’s apparently a bader? The kind where the longer piece hides beneath the short piece of strap. I didn’t put too much planning before buying it, so now I have a bunch of regular straps (that I meant to use with this clasp) with prong indentations. Which is not great! What kind of leather straps should I be looking for? Do they have a specific name? I mean, something with an even ending that won’t leave holes when matching with the clasp!or, maybe, working on the other side, suggestions for a clasp with a hiding piece/mechanism for the final piece of strap? Thank you for any suggestion!

I'm not sure what you are asking, but as long as the strap is not too wide for this clasp as some do taper more than others, it should be fine. The piece with no holes attaches to the side with pushers and the piece with holes goes in the other, there is a peg that goes through the hole.

I mean that the circled part would be exposed with the new clasp, and the profile of the strap would be left with the space for the prong. Ugh!…

That's just how they are and you have to put up with it, unless it is specifically designed for one of these clasps and I haven't seen any of those. You could get a custom strap made if it really bothers you.

I have seen straps without the dreaded indentation labeled as "for Omega", e.g. by Rios1931 on Amazon. Which makes sense, because Omega popularized this type of clasp.

Great! Thanks! I’ll start from there!

Hope this helps too. Just make sure the width of the band matches the deployant clasp.

👍🏻 is that the original omega strap? What does it look like on the other side of the clasp, the side of the shorter piece? It does not have an indentation where it meets the buckle, right?

No it's a Zuludiver sailcloth. Cheapish but decent. Got an Artem Sailcloth on my Aqua Terra & it's noticeably better quality.

The Zuludiver had a normal tang buckle so yes the cutout for the tang is there.

I’m beginning to think I haven’t made myself particularly clear! 😌 I know how to operate the clasp, what goes where and so on… the point is in what kind of strap to use with it. Most common leather straps are made for pin buckles, so they have a little window to lodge the pin. Bader straps are flat at the top?!… w/out pin space?!

This is Omega type deployment clasp... length of the straps is different than normal straps dedicated to normal buckle

While we are on the matter of clasps... Does anyone happen to know how to fix a tight clasp lock/secure/holder? It was working fine but it kinda got tighter recently n a tad tight to push back all the way...

No issues pushing it in or lifting up though... Just that it gets caught halfway through the action of opening the clasp n seems unusually tight halfway through...

Anyone has a suggestion for this? 😊
