Quartz Question, Long term storage tips

Hello fellow Internet users.

I have a question/ am looking for advoce regarding long term storage tips for a quartz watch ( i.e looking for general guidelines and tips)

I also am wondering how long a quartz movement like a basic swatch last in storage with the battery taken out ?

Mainly asking as I have quiet a few of the DBZ swatches and want to keep them long term, ideally working :)

My oldest quartz watch is 36 years old. It has been stored w/o battery, and has had regular battery changes during other times. Based on my wife's Swatches from the early 90s this was not an outlier.

Quartz doesn't have anywhere near as many considerations for storage (or operation, for that matter). For long-term storage - and I mean long-term - as in years of storage where the battery dies and it will sit for years. Just pop it open and remove the battery. Whilst the battery is active and running the probability of leakage is quite minimal.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy. :-)

Most quartz watch batteries last for 3 or 4 years, and in some cases 10. I left a non-"10 Year Battery" Casio alone for over a decade and it was still running (albiet faintly) when I came back to it.

I have no idea how long Swatch watches last but most of mine are from the early '90s and they all still work. As @skxcellent says above, there's never much danger of modern batteries leaking. Even if they do, a quick clean up with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton bud usually fixes everything again.

Thanks guys !
