Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I've always been into watches because of my Mom and switched out one cheap, small gold tone case, cream dial, brown strap watch for another. After proposing to my now wife, I asked for a Bulova Accutron for my engagement watch (Nas mentioned Bulova in "The Set Up" and it was the only non Rolex brand I could name). My research for the watch led me down a rabbit hole about tuning fork movements which led me to mechanical movements. And I've been changed ever since...

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

No clue. But the first mechanical watch I ever owned was a Seiko Turtle, purchased in 2016.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Enjoy the journey and try not to rush through it. Making mistakes is part of it and how you learn what you do/ don't like. Also, try to avoid substitute watches. Meaning if you want the Tudor Black Bay Red, don't get the Glycine Airman with the red bezel, unless you love that watch too. Otherwise you're just going to continue wanting the Black Bay and not appreciate the Glycine for what it is.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

IWC and Omega have been and continue to be favorites. But Panerai, Bvlgari, and of course Rolex are also holding my attention right now.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Current Grail is an IWC Perpetual Calendar, preferably in the Pilot or Portugieser line. I just love the presence of those watches, the Kurt Klause movement and the 4 subdial layout. Ultimate Grail is any Patek watch with a cream dial, gold case, brown strap and complications (i haven't looked at specific models or ref numbers. They're all beautiful) . This is what they do best and is my favorite kind of watch.
