A gift from Ireland
My mother-in-law just arrived for a 3 week stay from Belfast, and she brought me my favorite Irish Whiskey: Writer's Tears. This is a cask-strength limited edition, and it's quite excellent.
With a splash of water, there's caramel, toasted sugars, candy and hazelnuts on the nose. The sip gives honey, salted caramel and raisins and a hint of pipe smoke, with ginger, all-spice and pepper on the finish, which lingers nicely.
