Agreed the double pass makes it thicker, but I actually think it's one of the nicest NATO straps I have some across. Very soft and comfortable 👍

If it's too bulky, cut off the unnecessary short piece.

I always do this, vestigial hangover from the early days of watch straps, IMO.
