If prices are going to continue to fall isn’t it exactly the wrong time to buy that watch?
I miss the good old days when people bought a watch to tell time or to impress friends and neighbours or just to try to show off. Now it is about value retention and connections with ads to buy in demand timepieces at MSRP with the understood potential to make a few fast bucks on the secondary marketplace. I guess watches have always been about more than just telling time.
I’m here for it! Waiting for those obtuse amateur dealers to fire sell their inventory.
I walked into vacheron AD yesterday and the sales rep told me I need to build a buying history of 100k for me to be eligible to buy their overseas entry level models. If gray market prices drop closer to retail may be the ADs will have to change their business model.
