🚨NWA🚨 The Praesidus Jungle Field

Hello WatchCrunch!!! I got the Praesidus Jungle Field Watch for Christmas thanks to my best friend who knows that I love watches and history!!

This is a modern reproduction of the GG-W-113 Field Watch worn by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. Originally, they were made by Benrus and Hamilton during the 1960s and stayed in production until the 1980s.

This new watch in my collection has personal value to me. My grandfather from both my mom and my dad's side served in the ARVN with the US Military. The former was a helicopter mechanic while the latter was an infantry soldier who saw combat numerous times during his service. My parents and most of my relatives were refugees when Saigon fell in 1975. My mom was only 2 years old when the Fall of Saigon happened. My dad was only 7 years old when he decided to escape Vietnam by boat (yes he was the infamous Boat People Refugees) So, this watch serves as a remembrance for my grandfathers and to the US military for their service, it also serves as a reminder about my family's sacrifice. They came to America after losing everything. They had no idea what America would be like. In the end, it worked in their favour. I am able to have an easier life thanks to my family. It also represents my heritage. Unfortunately, my past is stained by centuries of imperialism, war, violence and civil unrest. However, despite all that, the Vietnamese people are hard working, dedicated and patriotic. Despite all of the odds, we made it through. That is something I am very proud of being a Vietnamese person.

I know this is a long post but I want to thank everyone who took the time to check this post out!! This one is very special to me!! I want to thank my best friend, Christina for getting me a wonderful present!!! As a watch lover and history buff, this ticked all of the boxes!!! I want to thank my family for everything!! I also want to thank the soldiers of the Vietnam War. Your sacrifices were great, you fought for a good cause and you will never be forgotten.
