SOTC (aka I wanna meet new guys to exchange opinions and stories)

I have not always been a watch guy and my journey started quite recently, almost 3 years ago.

During my university age I just wore a classic Casio illuminator and I was wondering why people wanted to pay more than a few bucks just to tell time. I have always been a very rational person and never drive by emotions.

For my graduation 3 years ago a friend gifted me this wood green time. Nothing special and very fragile watch, but it always start a conversation!

I also bought this black Casio because I thought that I would love it (spoiler: I don't! I don't feel anythong while wearing It).

Fast forward for 3 years I went to medic convention for 7 days where I were supposed to wear formal, like suit and tie; I am 31 and not used to it.

This was a great excuse to wear a watch that my girlfriend gifted for my graduation, but I never had an occasion ti wear.

Enter: Hamilton American Classic

I was hooked!

How can a person choose not to wear a good quality jewel on his wrist?

Since I work in an hospital the Hamilton classic is not an everyday watch for me.

I was understanding something.

Not every watch is the same, it really need to fit your lifestyle.

I started to look into more robust watch and that can get wet...

This is my current top 3 watch.

  1. Hamilton: dress Watch

  2. Addiesdive: GADA

  3. Kamasu: beater

The Kamasu is the Watch that get more wrist time out of the 3. The bezel is very useful for my job and having a day date complication comes in handy for compiling documents, it's also indestructible.

To round up the collection I have a watch that I get from my mum and one from my dad.

The Seiko 5 doesn't need much presentati in, It has 50 years but Is very precise +/- 5 sec a day after I played a bit with the lever.

The chronograph instead is Monil, an old brand founded in Firenze, my city, that runs a swiss caliber. I just serviced and it works very good too.

I am wondering what will be my next purchase. Maybe I will upgrade my GADA with a 35mm PRX powermatic 80 blu for Christmas because I really want an integrated bracelet.

Any suggestions?

It was a terrible time to talk about watches but my wife’s surgeon was chatting about the lump that was successfully removed from her left breast and the process moving forward when he noticed my Breitling Navitimer 1461 watch and made small talk about buying a watch for his university age daughter. I think he suspected that we needed a long moment. My wife surprised by suggesting a Hamilton Khaki on bracelet, that we gifted to our daughter when she was in high school. A few months later at a check up, the surgeon is wearing a Khaki and telling us how much his daughter loves hers. Of course he has forgotten our previous conversation. Lol.

Nice little collection you have there! Always remember to buy what gives you pleasure (NOT the crowd!).
