Cartier Santos Galbee XL

Good Morning Everybody! So, as we all occasionally do in this hobby, a recent article on Fratello has taken me down the rabbit hole of looking serious...

Both have there individual positives and negatives -

Hesalite - Minutely more faithful to the original though arguably at this point it feels like this is not a swaying argument.  I do like the warmth of the dial under the hesalite and as much as I would like the sapphire case back there was not enough of a pull to make me choose the sapphire.  Scratches are an issue but as many have stated, Polywatch will keep this from being an issue.

Sapphire - Honestly, the pull for me with this version had nothing to do with the case back or durability of sapphire, it was the applied logo.  I really like the look of the applied logo versus printed.  Additionally, the bracelet's polished center links give it a bit more depth visually.

For me the pull of the applied logo did not justify spending the extra $.  That said, I feel like either one is an excellent choice.

It was an excellent review. @bshaaw4 did a great job and the down to earth quality of his approach and thoughts is quite refreshing.  Keep it up!

I really love this piece.  I appreciate the Moonwatch but this really hits the mark with the updated size and manual wind. I wish the black dial had received the applied logo treatment that the colored dials received but all in all I think this is a win.  Also, I am one of the people out there who likes having a date...and this has a date.

So I recently picked up the Garmin Instinct II.  This version comes in 40mm so it is far more unintrusive than the 45 mm.  So far I have loved the interface and data it provides.

I could never adapt to the Apple Watch, both from a wearability perspective and also battery life.  The Garmin has solar charging functionality but even the standard battery for normal use is about 20 days on a charge.  Great option and the price is not crazy at $450 for the solar powered version.

Cartier Santos Galbee or the newer Santos.  I am spending far too much time going down that rabbit hole.

The Cartiers book is excellent.  Great read and just learning about the evolution of the family and brand was extremely interesting.  Non watch people can enjoy it as well.

My list is everchanging but right now it consists of -

Cartier Tank Solar - This watch simply intrigues me.  The Tank aesthetic with the solar battery just seems so cool.  This would be for my wife, but I may sneak it into the rotation here and there.

Tudor FXD - I have the black Pelagos but just love this watch.  I am hoping that once they become more readily available I will get the call or find one lightly used.

DOXA Sub 300 - Just because I need some orange in my life.
