Prospex Alpi review after 4 months

Got this beauty for Christmas 2023 and it has had the privilege of ornating my skinny wrist the most over the past months.

Let's get the specs out of the way first:

39.5mm case

13.2mm thiccc

Exhibition caseback

20mm lug width

Flat saphire christal with AR

200m WR (scre down crown)

6R35 movement with 72h PR (3hz)

Great lumibrite lume

Inner rotating compas bezel

No complaints here, its an overbuilt GADA watch! Lovely!

Design:

Design is always subjective but for me it definitely works!

Drops the numerals of the regular alpinist dial for these beautiful polished "shark teeth" indices which I like. I think It looks much cleaner and more balanced.

The handset is gorgeous, the hour, minute and seconds hands all look harmonious and beautiful, gives some classy vibes while still having some visual interest.

The black dial with the chrome and the touch of red on the 20 bar and North marking on the compass looks great.

Lots of polished surfaces, both sides, the crown guard and the bezel. Some brushing on the lugs ... Nice!

I actually like the cyclops over the date at 3 as well.

I like the see trough caseback as well (although it probably increases the thickness), the 6R35 gets some visual upgrades over the regular NH35 with a golden balance wheel and a cote de geneve rotor.

Dislikes:

The bracelet is alright, Nice classic 3 link with solid female endlinks but given that the case is so thick, I find the bracelet a little too thin.

The milled inner elements of the fold over clasp are superb! Great curvature for comfort and overall aesthetic which I do notice every time I put the wach on.

The clas is solid as well, very nice, thick pushers BUT only 2 micro adjust holes?!

Come on seiko! Unacceptable! I'm not sure about you but my wrist expands and contracts over the year by probably 5 holes.

So I have to add a link in the summer, remove on in the winter, and struggle with the fit in spring and autumn. Damn you seiko for not having at least 3 holes of micro!

But I guess a bracelet with 2 micros is still better than a leather strap like on the other alpinists;)

Also the case is quite chunky ... no natos for this chubby fella, it already wears a little high on my wrist.:)

Also for the price, I wish it had a 4hz movement and a regular 40h power reserve for that buttery smooth sweep. Miyota somehow manages this with a slimmer movement.

Overall a quality watch with some history that works in many situations! 👍

Make it a little slimmer, one or two more micro adjust holes and a 4hz movement and it would be incredible!
