Last of the Somlo vintage Piagets

I’ve lots of gifs to make of the incredible new 2024 range and 2 embargoed watches still to be released at Watches & Wonders.

Here’s the last of the vintage Piaget watches from Somlo.

The stepped case with lapis lazuli dial was something else. It even has a stingray strap! Eric from the Bond Street boutique told us that sourcing this stone has become difficult. Most lapis lazuli Piaget has used historically has come from Afghanistan. It's known for the highest quality examples of the stone. Due to sanctions and the control of the supply by the Taliban, they can’t purchase it from there anymore.

Then we have the most iced-out watch I’ve ever seen. This can’t have been cheap to do. The surface area of that thing is enormous. That must cost a ton in diamonds. I think that’s all I can really say about this watch. Live and let live I guess!

The white gold bracelet on the women’s diamond set watch is incredible. These are handwoven with white gold and are cut to size. No gaining weight or losing weight. You commit to your size and you will do it to wear this watch. The diamond setting on the bezel is a work of art. It reminds me of a laurel wreath around the head of a Greek statue. Piaget is all about movement. Always has been. This is so clear with a wrist roll in bright lighting, it’s a disco ball!

Bonus shot of some very special watches indeed. Including matching annual and perpetual calendar Patek Philippes. Both on gold mesh bracelets!
