In today’s edition of ‘Beautiful watches that are far too big for me’ we have a throwback to an IWC night at Watches of Switzerland.
I genuinely love IWC and appreciate how unapologetic they are on sizing and design. A pilot’s watch should be enormous! I’d rather not wear one but I’m always a little envious at watch meets when someone is rocking one of their chronos.
The perpetual calendar was beautiful with pretty much everything you’d ever need to know about the fourth dimension on one beautifully finished dial. The moonphase matching the case is such a nice touch.
They sent us all home with an IWC Top Gun YETI mug! Much like their watches it’s also gargantuan. It’s so big it’s almost impractical, and nobody needs that much coffee on their commute. Again, like IWC’s pilots I still kinda love it for that.

I keep coming back to IWC, i've tried a bunch on and it's not the diameter, but the thickness generally that I found offputting.
I absolutely LOVE the aesthetic of the IWC Pilot Chronos ... one of the best looking watches ever IMHO!
But with a 6-1/2" wrist, I'd never be able to pull off the look unfortunately.
So, I'm always keeping an eye out for a more affordable, smaller pilot watch with a similar look ...

Yeah fair point actually! None of my photos captured that. Thinking back on it you’re right.
