Review of my great Schaffen Reference 65

One of my favorite watches is this micro brand from Singapore. It all started some six years ago with a kickstarter campaign. The watches looked good but the main difference from usual kickstarter watches was the possibility of a hand made custom rotor designed by yourself with the help of Schaffen designers and manufactured in Europe, for a little more than $500 at that time. They offered two models, the A65, a dress watch and the S65 ( this one), a sports integrated bracelet model. The Genta inspired design is not very original but the overall design and finish quality is great with the beautiful integrated bracelet with brushed sides and polished accents. The white dial pattern catches light creating light/shadow patterns. The watch is 40mm and only 9.6 thick so it is very comfortable (even for a small wrist like mine). Both crystals (front and back) are flat sapphire. White lume is also great. Al printing at the dial is customizable and also the design of the rotor of the Sellita SW-200 elaboré. For under $700 is dollars it is absolutely a great value. I have contacted them some weeks ago just to check if they are still in business and yes, they are still active. I don’t know why after more than six years they haven’t developed new models, and why their lack of success ( apparently) considering the absolutely great watch, service and communications. The mysteries of watch industry. I don’t know if they will manage to survive in this world full of micro brands but I hope so.
