Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Lockdown and walking past a local jewellers who had a display of Seikos and Citizens. walked out with a quartz Citizen with a blue dial. Within a month I’d bought three more watches after falling down the YouTube rabbit hole. I never wear the Citizen now but I do blame it for stopping me buying more road bikes.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

I think it must have been a Mickey Mouse dial hands watch. Not sure if the brand. The first I ever bought with my own money was a strange one, an Accurist quarts dress watch with a moon phase complication. Quite an odd choice for a ten-year old. After that my parents bought me a Seiko Sports 150 Chronograph. It was in relation to the Barcelona Olympics and was two tone. incredibly complicated movement and I still have it in a drawer but it doesn’t work properly even after sending it to Seiko.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Nope.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Don’t go into debt for a watch. Take your time and if possible try on before you part with your cash. Thats two pieces of advice 🫢

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Omega (always), Tudor (predictably) and most recently Longines due to their value proposition for a proper luxury brand with great heritage. I’m also very recently homage curious with some Chinese Ali-Express brands although yet to jump.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. I read about it as a kid at school and it’s just imprinted on my psyche. The one thing that’s stopping me (apart from the cost) is that I’m not that into chronographs and I prefer a clean three hand movement. But I still want it so very much.
