Glycine

I understand this brand is important for the watch community. It’s history is rich and we know the the Airman is legendary.

Im not a watch snob or anything close to it. But is the Glycine considered a luxury brand?

Just curious.

It's all about perspective.

For me, my Airman is my 2nd best watch (or first depending on POV) and I do consider it luxurious.

But someone that owns a Rolex or an Omega wouldn't really consider a Glycine luxury.

If I had to answer how I think the broader community would answer, I'd say it's a no or maybe bargain luxury

Love me an Airman 24 hour dial

·

i own and love my airman dc4, but i considered it an entry level luxury just like tissot, mido, or hamilton

·

I don't know which I like more. Airman or Combat Sub

·

No I wouldnt classify it there as luxury. I would say more eveyday or a tier above.

·

That’s just it, Glycine meets all the quality that some luxury brands like Omega, Tag, Tissot has. And they are Swiss 💯.

My opinion they are at least entry level luxury. The Airman is iconic and very important.

Any non smartwatch is a luxury.

Tag makes a smartwatch. SMH

No, Glycine is not a luxury brand. Glycine sells entry level to mid-tier watches (the mechanical airman). Regardless, I like Glycine a lot. Have one Glycine. I may add the Airman one day, because I find it to be one of the best looking GMTs on the market.

I’m not a fan of GMT watches where the GMT hand dominates the dial and is the first think you notice when looking at the watch. To me this is not the case with the Glycine Airman. So well done Glycine for that.

As to whether Glycine are luxury watches IMO it’s all relative. If a collector normally buys, for instance, at Seiko 5 level (nothing wrong with that at all) then I would suggest that spending about £1000 on a watch makes it luxury for that person and that is all what matters. Let’s not forget that £1000 is an enormous amount of money for many people to spend on an item which is wholly discretionary.

Appreciate the offer, but I am currently burnt out with buying watches right now.
