I’m fascinated by these SBGX Grand Seikos with the incredible 9F quartz movement, and I’m sure I’ll end up with one sometime soon. Strikes me that if GS were to bring out a solar powered version, you’d have the Ultimate Watch - perfect accuracy + perpetual motion + 50 year service interval + simple beauty + amazing finishing!

Love the 7a28s, creamy dial is gorgeous … do you ever use the tachymeter, and if so, what for? I’m put off watches with them because I can’t think what I’d ever use it for, and I don’t like redundant features on a watch.

My idea of the perfect Rolex - is it a 1018?

Apart from the wait, the Rolex is a design mess with that random mix of green Roman numerals, an ugly cyclops & date window at three, and that bizarre single white hour index at 9. Plus a blingy fluted bezel. Speedmasters don’t exactly float my boat, but at least it’s a coherent design where every element works with everything else, plus you can get it now…no brainer!
