Maybe back in the days I cared. If a brand decided to place themselves to a hyper level. Now I just buy used or move to a Micro-Brand or another brand that cares about my budget.
On a business/marketing aspect I have no idea what they are thinking when the same watches priced at 18k go for 7k used and 9k grey market CoughCoughBreguettypeXXCough... Just like the Quartz crisis many of these brands have not learned anything. Micro brands are not only catering to their niche fans they are killing it and getting bigger and bigger just look at Zelos, Long Island, shoot even San Martin is coming out swinging with their own designs. Again those are corporations and they rather die trying to get as much money as they can vs catering to loyal fans and future fans.

we are on the same page, I don't see the need to carry that much cash on the wrist
This is interesting information. As an enthusiastic watch collector, I find that microbrands hit that sweet spot, so it really doesn't matter to me what the big brands do. However, it would be strange to see this hobby taken over by smart devices. Either way, it sounds like a long time from now, so I'll stick to my sub $1k collection and see what happens!

Didn’t watch.
Everything is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay. No more. No less.
