Seiko Alpinist SPB210 PVD coating

So my next watch purchase will most likely be a Seiko Prospex Alpinist. It will either be the SPB210 (gold) or the SPB121 (silver).

I am leaning towards the SPB210 but I have some concerns. It seems it’s a PVD coated stainless steel.

Does anyone have any experience with the SPB210, and if so how does the gold coating hold up over time and use?

The coating on the higher end Prospex models are very good. Seiko has their proprietary type of PVD coating that is more durable and deeply layered on the steel case, makes the watch feels like it made out of real gold in person. It wont fade or scratch unless you go about scratching it very deeply enough to expose the steel case. Also you wont have problem with color fading over time. The SPB210 doesn't have the bling gold look you find on most pvd coated gold watches, its more subtle and natural gold tone plus really nicely finished with brushing and polishing. The watch does play nicely with light giving you a rose gold tone in some lighting. Check it out in person if possible, you won't be disappointed.
