My current daily beater is a seiko 6458-6000. Great size, light and tough enough to survive my work as a Technician working in a historic building. Generally I prefer a quartz, as a few have mentioned...the F91 is probably the perfect beater! Hard to kill and cheap to replace if you do! 

I briefly owned the cream dial Tonnere. Nicely made, great size but a really bad misprint on the dial. Unfortunately I bought it 2nd hand so didn't have an option to check out the customer service. Strap was excellent. Price is a little over the top at retail imho but they are a good brand overall.
