Question for modders out there

Is there a way to flip the rotation of a dive bezel? I find myself timing between 5 and 15 mins and it would be way more efficient if I could rotate the bezel clockwise.

I know I can remove the springs and just rock a friction fit, but I gotta have some of those satisfying clicks haha

I don't think so, the underside of the bezel have notches for the click spring so they can only go counter clockwise. You might be able to find a countdown bezel and click spring and replace the insert.

Edit: sorry, just read the entirety of your post. Maybe look for a countdown bezel for that watch?

You could always use a fatter bezel gasket (~0.8mm), and leave off the click spring, basically making it a bi-directional friction bezel.

That’s a good point, but you just got me thinking: isn’t rolex’s gmt a bidirectional with clicks? I wonder how those are notched…or maybe if there’s a bidirectional spring option?

Weird thing is for some reason I don’t like the look of a countdown bezel hahah odd I know

Not sure how the Rolex is, but it could probably be achieved with a small spring and ball bearing, like the old Seiko cases. Feeling brave enough to drill that case? 😂

They don't bother me, but they are not too common, or easy to find for certain models.

I think most bidirectional GMTs use ball bearings like @NewbombTurk said.

Definitely not haha

I don't think I could do it. Maybe on a cheaper aftermarket case, first.

My Hamilton Khaki Aviation Flight Timer has a bi-directional bezel that is a 120 click bezel, so it would be possible in theory to find a bi-directional bezel that clicks. I like this one because it is reverse order. It makes countdown timing easy, even though it also has a digital timer.
