1970 Caravelle Sea Hunter 666

1970 Caravelle Sea Hunter 666 devil diver. The seller liked the 1016 aesthetic and shipped with the original complete bezel assembly so I can alternate back and forth between different looks.

As with vintage watches, putting 2 side by side can seem to be two very different watches. With this one I (really) like how most of the minute markers have faded leaving a great minimalist dial appearance. Tritium glows faintly and not very long as expected.

36.5mm with the "Brando" look and 37mm with the bezel

Caravelle is the gateway into Bulova (think Rolex - Tudor back in the day) and this is running a Bulova 11DP manual wind movement which in realtiy is a rebranded Citizen 0241 manual....which leads to the bottom of the dial reading T-Japan-T

a version w/ different hands appeared in the US marketing was listed at $29.99 and home mortgages were around $47.00 at that time!

Stunning👍New Tudor can’t compete with that.

Checking an online inflation calculator it appears that it would retail for slightly less than $230.00 today. It would compete, fittingly enough, with Citizen.
