The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme LAB 2:

  • The case is made from JLC exclusive TiVan15 their own proprietary titanium technology which is 15% more scratch-resistant than regular titanium.
  • The bezel is made from black Zirconium ceramic, good luck scratching that.
  • The crown is also made from ceramic and has an integrated button that switches the modes from winding, GMT, and time setting.
  • A patented radial power reserver indicator.
  • Fully integrated movement, a column-wheel vertical clutch chronograph that displays the time in digital minutes (at 12). The chronograph hours (at 9).
  • An additional column-wheel for the mode selection.
  • A Date (at 3).
  • The GMT has a shorthand sticking out from the center of the dial and a 24-hour indicator (at 6).
  • Free-sprung escapement requires no lubrication and is made from silicone parts that are used to regulate timekeeping.
  • Large balance wheel for better accuracy which is held by a full balance bridge for stability.
  • The winding mechanism has ceramic ball bearings that require no lubrication. The rotor itself uses a solid platinum mass.
  • There's a slider on the left side of the case. When you slide it down it will hack the seconds. Pushing out the crown will reset the chronograph but the timekeeping will continue.
  • Lastly, the buckle has a micro-adjustment and the strap can be changed without any tools.

Interesting post, unfortunately, I'll have an uninspiring answer. Realistically I'd go with A.Lange then I would immediately call them and tell them to get me a: Datograph, Cabaret Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, Richard Lange Tourbillon "Pour le Mérite", Tripple Split, and to finish strong a Zeitwerk Minute Repeater. The rest of the money I'd take Frederique Constant. I probably wouldn't have picked them a few years ago but seriously, when they started to release in-house movement I took them more seriously or perhaps I underestimated them from the beginning. FC is also pushing the envelope with their Monolithic line. So I'd get one of those and wait patiently for the more awesome stuff they will surely release in the future.

Congratulations on a beautiful watch. The dial is definitely one of Grand Seiko's strengths. I have to ask does Aus mean Australia or Austria?

I don't own the Speedmaster but hopefully, I am allowed to share my 2 cents. If I was in the market for a Speedmaster I would definitely go with the hesalite. Not because of the historical reasons but because the hesilite comes with the cool-ass case back which says that the watch is certified for all manned space missions. Will I ever go to space, unlikely, but it doesn't matter the "coolness" factor is off the chart.
