Hard to say the exact moment but perhaps modding a few got me more interested.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
I'm over 50 and since I can remember have always worn a watch. 1st mechanical watch though was I think a midsize SKX013
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Not really, though I'm pleased to have found a birth year and birth month Seiko 6105-8000 a few years ago.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy pre-owned and start on the cheaper end of the spectrum until you find your own style. Regards finding your own style, don't be afraid to experiment and go outside your comfort zone and don't always follow the crowd.
In summary... find your OWN style.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
From new watches, Horage is one to watch for the future. Christopher Ward is getting more interesting too.
A few old interesting quartz watches too.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
I don't really hold with the idea of a Grail watch. have a long list of watches I'd like to own.
Having said that. I would love to own something frivolous and completely 'out there'. I know the guy who makes these watches, he makes me laugh and he's a bit of a genius. https://german242.com/en/kopf/
