Read Research

A gift for myself for Christmas. George Daniels, “Watchmaking” I always hear that in watch collecting you need to do your research. Educate yourself. Read. This book does not have all the answers. Don’t think there is a single source.

Education in general is no education at all unless it comes from an array of diverse sources and viewpoints, but I also love that the great Roger Smith built his first two watches using only a how-to book as a guide!

This looks great. Thanks for the recommendation!

Yes. True. Do you have any other viewpoints you would like to share or recommendations for other sources?

As a former teacher, I can talk all day about education in general, but that one factoid represents the bulk of my knowledge on the subject of watchmaking education. 👋

I highly recommend his autobiography which I read a couple of weeks ago. -All In Good Time Reflections of a Watchmaker-great book by a unique individual.
