How about the new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 37?
In blue its quite versatile but still somewhat stands out. You get an inhouse movement which is very pretty to look at and you are still well within budget. It comes down to a matter of taste, i think.
I have the same wrist circumference as you and I would highly recommend getting an Oris Divers 65 in 40mm on the bracelet. It might take some time but you will most likely be able to find a used model for a bit more than 1000$. I paid 980€ for mine and it is the most sought after version with the black dial and bronze bezel. Another member posted a pic of an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date; also a great option if you don't want a diver.
Cheers!
