commented on What is the best watch collecting advice you’ve heard and still sticks to your mind. ·

It’s been said many times already but buy what you like and use a trusted dealer/seller and do your research, especially if it’s a more expensive addition. This is less of a point as I believe a watch is meant to be worn, regardless of price, but maybe look at what you would be doing with the watch and choose accordingly.

Wonder if I could add a strap and get away with it on the wrist 🤣

When I am looking at watches in the microbrand arena I want it to satisfy a few things. The first test is that I have to be able to buy into your “why”, there is a lot of competition and therefore your values and whether your brand is relationship based or transactional really matters to me.

The next test is I have to like the watch, and what I like is not too specific but there is a natural reaction factor that I try to listen to.

The last point is I am looking for value, the more established brands usually have heritage and plentiful designs but may put me off because they are of a price that is out of reach. So micro brands do have an advantage with me if they can get the value right, which kind if links into the first two points as well.

Hope your campaign goes well

I have mixed feelings, he may help to get more people into watches because of his entertainment channel and I think he does have a lot of knowledge and is clearly passionate. But sometimes it’s just a bit too much and feels like this is to satisfy algorithms. The one channel I really love is the wristwatch revival , nothing but a workbench and an adventure in making a watch great again. Educational and you get a real feel for the craft.

For me it’s not a case of liking it or not. What I can do is appreciate it and admire Rolex for giving us a dial that isn’t neccersarily their usual offering which generates a conversation. Enjoy the watch.

Love the Ventura, The Elvis Ventura 80 Skeleton is on my list just because it has a story and looks a little different!

Nice collection.
