Mido

I need to take a deeper dive in to Mido. I’ve seldom seen them discussed and a few Crunchers posting with them in WRUW. Every time I see them I think they’re impressive.

I think visually they’re stunning (Oceanstar, Oceanstar GMT etc.), but don’t know much about their history and craftsmanship. Let me know your experience and knowledge about them.

Maybe not your sporty type but this watch provide 80 hrs of power reserve, and its accuracy is not really an issue.

Those divers are cool in person. I think it is a good choice if you pick one (or two 😉)

Thanks for the heads up! Good to know about the quality. That’s a really good looking dress watch!

This is a great diver. I am torn between this watch and a new COSC Squale

The COSC Squale is a classic diver. If you’re diving with it you can’t go wrong. I know the Oceanstar comes with and without a GMT function. Do you need another GMT?

Um...... don't we all need another GMT? LOL

I just got an Ocean Star 200 and I am absolutely over the moon. Mido is one of those Swiss brands that sort of flies under the radar. What they don't spend on celebrities endorsing their watches they spend on stunning horological craftsmanship for a ridiculously good price point. I got mine on a great sale here in Canada and paid about 930 CAD. I kept going back to some great videos and blog entries on the Ocean Star on teddybaldassarre.com. I couldn't be happier. I secretly wish I had a bit more of a wallet - then I would've gone for the GMT, 200C, or 600 maybe.

Great write up, thanks! I agree with you and glad you picked one up! Been doing some reading about Mido and appreciate their long history. I’m putting the Ocean Star in my list! I appreciate the feedback!
