Both are pretty underrated in the grand scheme of things. Ask anyone outside of watch geekdom and you'll get some puzzled looks.

Alpina , we hear lots more about Sinn in the community. Not got either, like both.
Eh, depends. Sinn for as awesome as they are, and despite being well known, is still often underrated IMO. Alpina is way less well known and definitely underrated. I voted Sinn, just because it's such an outstanding brand.
