NWA and a Strap Review

I recently got this little Seiko 5. Love at first sight, so unfortunately I can’t resell it. It arrived on an original bracelet, which was in great condition. Old Seiko bracelets leave a lot to be desired.

So the search was on for a strap. I ultimately chose Ostrich, and found a seller on Amazon named VinaCreations. They also have a website for custom made products. I searched awhile and never could find a review for their watch straps. Here’s one now….

From what I can tell it’s genuine ostrich. The grain of the leather is nice and the crowns don’t look manufactured. That said, I don’t think much thought or care was put towards the cut. Many of the crowns are at the edges or under stitching.

The buckle is a simple, brushed steel and a good size. There’s one keeper bonded near the buckle and another that’s adjustable.

The stitching is tight and uniformed. The edges of the strap have a slightly melted plastic look, which I find concerning but I’m no expert. The underside is calf leather. Initially I found it tough and hard. After about 12 hours it’s softening up and conforming to my wrist.

Time will tell on durability. I should mention it is quick release. At $20 I think I got my moneys worth.

Edit: also all their straps are tapered. This one is 19mm tapered to 16mm at the buckle.

I ordered mine on Amazon and received it in 2-days. Next time I think I’ll try out their custom made ones.

I assume to sell them cheap they cut out the leather for efficiency over aesthetic. I’m fine with that. I’d like a little better cut of course but I can respect minimizing waste.

Those are beautiful watches. Excellent taste.

You should have just let me believe you had 3 Reversos. 😂

Awesome what a strap change and angle/lighting can do.

Just so you know, I’m forever going to tell people “I know a guy who uses this strap on his Reverso” when I show off my Seiko.

Of course they’ll look confused and change the topic. For a split second, I’ll feel special. So thanks for sharing.
