Citizen Chandler

The citizen BM8180-03E or lovingly called the chandler, is the watch that pushed me head first into the watch collecting rabbit hole.

Being the first watch of the watch collection I intend to build over time, it has been a huge learning curve for me where I got to comprehend the importance of the dimensions of the watch & how much that would effect how it would sit on my on the skinnier side writs.
Coming in at only 37.2mm in diameter & just 42mm lug to lug length, this watch sits snug & looks at home on my wrists or any wrist i will say. The size is close to but not entirely on that sweet spot range.

Moving on to my favorite part of the watch; the dial having large & visible white Arabic numerals & a bordered day-date window with ample amounts of blue lume, this watch truly holds up it’s “tool watch” identity. Also coming in with the tool watch ident, it has 100 meters of water resistance, crown guards & a solid build to survive whatever you may throw at it. Me having gone on multiple hardcore treks which included climbing, wading through streams & mud, & my multiple falls, this watch took all the beating without even a scratch.

The biggest selling point about this, the movement. Tried & tested citizen eco-drive solar powered quartz movement is accurate; being solar powered this movement takes away the hassle of changing the battery out & will serve you for years with close to zero maintenance.

To sum up this time piece i will say it’s rugged, accurate & affordable. Would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a no nonsense, gets the job done, everyday watch. A true bang for your buck coming in at 200$ & some times even less.

Good all around watch. Nothing not to like, especially the movement.

I bought an early eco drive (called solar tech back then) and it's been ticking for 26 years now with no problem at Aall.

Wow, 26 years? This makes me appreciate my watch even more now. Citizen really hit the mark with the movement yes!

That watch was the first one that i ever purchased, almost 3 years ago. I have purchased 25 more since then. The "Chandler" was the impetus of things to come. Crazy thing is, i didn't realize it was known as the "Chandler" until a couple of years after owning it. My last name happens to be Chandler. That was a weird coincidence...or was it?

That was pure destiny, your first watch having the same name as you hehhe! Also same for me, I’ve owned this watch for 2 years & I found out it’s called the chandler only a couple of months ago hahah!

Got a nighthawk for my birthday 7 years ago and it's been my grab-and-go watch ever since. Tough, distinct, great strap versatility, and excellent bang-per-buck. Hard to beat eco-drives.

The strap you put on this looks so good! 💯
& you’re right eco-drives are hard to beat..i believe you just can’t hate them even though there‘s a stigma against quartz watches hahah

I’ve had this since 2001, it’s been through hell and back, and still keeps plugging away, it was £65…….. now that’s is proper value for money.

2001? Woah!
Seeing yours, now I want the chrono version of the chandler. I feel that “new watch itch” hahaha

They haven’t changed the design or the strap, it must be one of their best sellers, so unlike Seiko who stop producing their best sellers, Citizen keep sending them out to be enjoye.
