Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Since childhood. All started with the Timex Ironman when I was about 6 yrs old as a gift from my mom. I remember it was from a value store called Bi-Way back in the ‘90’s. I regret to this day that I misplaced that watch after moving homes throughout the years…since then, watches always had my attention no matter where I was whether I’m at Costco or an AD I would always look at watches on display.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Let’s say the first watch that I purchased myself with my very own earned money was my Seiko Mini Turtle SRPC41

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

It will have to be the ‘97 Rolex Date 34mm that I inherited from my dad. He wore this watch everyday before he retired for almost 25 years. He is one of the very few with only one single watch in his adulthood. Since I took possession of the watch, I had it serviced fully at Rolex. My intention is to keep this watch in working order until I lay in my coffin.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Never let the trend and social media dictate you what to buy. Even if you see something online that catches your eye, it is imperative that you try it on in person first. Please do not be one of those that worry what others think which brand you have on your wrist. Wear something that you love and admire every time you look down at your wrist. Ultimately, you want a collection that could suit different occasions. Don’t wear a 55mm Gshock with a suit at a wedding. Don’t wear a dress watch with a leather strap when you are changing your car’s engine oil in the garage… you get the point.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Been always the same ones and in order of preference: Longines, Rolex, Tudor, Gshock, Grand Seiko, Seiko Prospex, Frank Muller, Casio Vintage, Tag Heuer, Cartier (specifically the Santos), Hamilton

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Don’t have one at the moment. Ultimately, my grail watch will be the Rolex Datejust 36mm Wimbledon. I love tennis, I love Roger Federer, I love Rolex…
