I think you made the right call. I recently semi-impulse bought a P39 even though I didn't love it. Fast forward, its been a few months, I regret the purchase, and it is actually pretty difficult to sell them anywhere near retail. You don't want the queasy "I'm about to make a mistake" feeling when you buy a new watch...
I'm embarassed to admit that I can tell time way faster when there are arabic numerals...That is enough for me to prefer the Explorer.
The Longines and Nomos are both beautiful but I'd definitely find a way to try them on first. Both (especially the Nomos) have longer than average lugs which makes them wear larger than you'd expect. The GS is beautiful but the bracelet isn't as good as the Nomos and Longines which both have microadjusts.
The funny thing is I still love other GS watches and I've been eyeing some of their GMTs (which don't have this problem).
