The Longines Conquest 41 Automatic - hands-on review

I bought this in May this year, having been on the lookout for a dressier watch with a black dial to compliment my collection. There are of course a lot of watches matching those vague pointers. At the end it was just the Conquest from Longines that spoke to me. But what do I think of it now, after three month of ownership?

First the specs:

41 mm diameter

Sapphire crystal

Steel case and steel bracelet

Automatic movement, caliber L633

Date complication

30 ATM of water resistance

Screw-down crown

It's a fairly clean looking watch. A piano-black dial with the Brand and the logo beneth 12 and the the movement type, automatic together with the WR spec above the 6. The the 12 and 6 are arabic numerals with the other's beeing rectangular blocks. They all are applied, polished with lume.

The crown is quite big with large crown-guards. It's a large case, no doubt despite only 41 mm but the large crown-guards definitely makes it look bigger. The lugs are curved however so it wears ok on medium wrists (my wrists are 17.5 cm).

The verdict:

All-in-all it undoubtedly has some presence on the wrist without looking ridiculously large. I think there is a 39 mm version as well if you think it is on the big side. The overall appearance is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. On the other hand nothing stands out, making it almost boring.

It's very comfortable to wear thanks to the curved lugs wich makes the bracelet tug the wrist nicely. Although in certain positions the crown rubs agains the hand, like typing on a keyboard.

I'm still very happy with it!

  • Very versatile thanks to the clean look
  • With 30 ATM you don't need to abe afraid to take it into the water
  • Price-performance wise it's a bargain
  • The lume could be better
  • The big crown with the guards tends to rub against my wrist when typing or I have the hand bent upwards
  • Well, no. No more cons.

Good review. Seen the black, blue and white 41mm on sale in my local AD for a reduced rate but the 39mm would suit me better. I tried the blue 39mm one before and really liked it. That has applied indices and no lume.

I might have gone for the 39 mm, had that been an option at the time.

Looks like a perfect GADA watch, especially with that super deep water resistance. Nice review, sir!

I had the silver/white 39mm version. Sold it due to the butterfly clasp and poor readability of the silver hands. Wish I has bought the blue version which would have been a keeper.

I also recently acquired this beauty. It's like jeans and a t shirt. Boring. Simple. And yet, so perfect, there's a reason why jeans and a t shirt have been the go to comfy outfit for decades. I absolutely love the blend of quality and Longines attention to detail and fit and finish with the simplicity of not trying to be anything other than what it is. It's not the "perfect" watch, cuz that doesn't exist. But, it's on my wrist and holy cow do I love it! Thanks for a great review!
