A weird “collection” with something for everyone to hate

So I thought I’d do a SOTC……

I got the Versace watch about 20 years ago after I went in to buy a Rolex datejust and just preferred the look of this - Swiss made, sapphire - quartz - still like it and weirdly I think it’s the watch I paid the most for - even all those years ago and when most of my fellow watch brothers will just see a trash quartz fashion watch.

Seiko (Beatmaker) I started with a few turtles but loved the story behind this watch (the people designed it’s colour scheme and voted for this configuration). I really love the look of this watch. Yeah it’s mineral glass, pressed clasp, & cheap seiko but look at this thing 🔥😎🔥

The Mathey Tissot 369 (34mm), I was looking for an all purpose “dog walking watch” and I’ve ended up with a homage of the Rolex explorer 5500. This was made with the Asian Mechanical Watch Group (a Facebook watch enthusiast group - nice guys)…. I had the Smiths Everest Jubilee and I thought “actually, I could go smaller than a 36mm” and that market for mens watches was and still is rather limited…. After extensively searching this is what I found… I love the look and feel of this watch and it’s just a much more reasonable choice than the £20k original.

So after all that I got the black GShock (GMWB5000tb) it is very accurate, great functions, alarms, stopwatches…ect… it’s titanium & I really like that, it is very comfortable as a result… this watch opened my eyes to the prospect of an expensive digital watch….my gateway Casio to,

The MRGB5000 - this thing is incredible

I pretty much only wear the MRG now, I just get my other watches out now to at look at (like a weirdo). I got a great deal for this on EBay which helped, but make no mistake, this watch is phenomenal and I’d say well worth the asking price when new.

I wear my watches and they bounce off things just like I do.

Other watches have come and gone, they were good, but sometimes you just don’t connect with them or have the time or love to share between too many watches.

Anyway that’s my watches and I appreciate they are kinda weird and I’m expecting to get a bit roasted but whatever (probably not too bad my fellow watch guys)

Buy what you like.

Enjoy your watches how you like to.

It’s all about what makes you feel satisfied at the end of the day some it would be a Rolex to some a Casio. Everyone have a different taste and preferences this is what makes us who we are. In saying that I like your collection especially the metal squares I have a modified one which I will post one of these days, enjoy!!

Particularly delicious at the moment.

Did you know Versace watches are made by Timex now? I thought that was pretty cool when I found out.

Wow I really love that, what a great watch, an infusion of art, fashion and jewellery and a very accurate depiction of Versace design aesthetic…. That’s what I like about this era and quality of Versace watches… searching eBay they seem to have pumped out quite a lot of lower quality watches and designs that seem gawdy and cheap however there are some wonderful watches to be found if you look hard enough, and go back 15+years…..

I read your blog and saw that you actually already talked about Versace watches, I found that interesting.

I really cherish my Versace watch, it still looks and feels like a quality item after many years and lots of wear, it does feel like a piece of jewellery.

I bought a matching Versace Medusa costume ring and matching bracelet when I bought the watch, the finish has worn away on them but I still have them too.

Does the MRG Bezel and case scratch easily? I read that its made with a special type of titanium is 4x harder etc.

Wellllllllll….. it’s not bullet proof, I bounced it off a door handle and it marked the bezel, I think it’s always a dangerous game with high polish finishes. It looks pretty good looking at it, it has almost a liquid appearance so you can’t see any marks unless you get really close / @ the right angle

The case and bracelet are unmarked but the clasp did scratch as I was moving it on a brick surface (bunbathing them 🤦🏻‍♂️) I’d say it’s held up pretty well - I clearly don’t baby my watches and I do bounce off everything as I move- it’s a good watch -
