Kitchen Table Review of the Stella Breslin

Stella Watch Company (https://www.stellawatchcompany.com/) is a micro brand estabished in New York City in 2019, just in time for Covid to rear it's ugly head. Thankfully they survived and I was impressed enough to purchase the subject of this review while attending Wind Up Watch Fair Chicago 2023. They are super nice people and deserve your consideration. Designed in NYC and produced in Switzerland, currently they offer three lines.

The one I chose is the Breslin with Raspberry dial. The color is quite unique and has a linen texture/effect that really sets it off. The crown is screw down with a star insert inside a black enamel "cabochon" while the case is made from 316L stainless steel. A saphire crystal with anti reflective coating tops the watch rated to 10 ATM. Power is provided by the ubiquitous Sellita SW200-1 and runs quite well. Super Luminova is applied to the hands and the odd hour markers while non illuminated numbers represent the even number hours. The watch comes either with a bracelet or a leather strap, offered in two lenghts. Their extra long fit my ample wrist with ease while not being overly long the way some long straps can be. Switching strap to bracelket or vice versa is easily accomplished via quick release device. Finally I have to mention the back which features a "skyline" of Manhattan; I say that in quotes as the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building are not as close to one another as is illustrated. None the less, it is a very nice engraving.

The other thing to mention is Stella provides you with a really nice leather travel case. In fact, it takes the place of a box which really is a big positive for the environment and is a handy little bonus.

  • The dial color and texture
  • Back engraving
  • The leather travel case provided - Who needs a box!
  • Not everybody has one
  • Lugs might be a little sharp
  • For many, cost ($1,000+)
  • Lack of illumination on numbers

Selling point I suppose. But you almost want the back as the dial. 😀
