Three watch collection
I’m at a lose end and decided to write down the latest part of my collection journey partly to see if I’m not the only one going through this and partly to explain to myself how I got here 😂
The first photo taken two years ago inspired me to aim for a three watch collection. I looked at all the watches and in the bottom tray my fathers watch and my grandfathers watch sit and remind me that these were their watches I see them in my mind and they are always wearing these watches and that makes me smile and reminds me of them. I looked at the top tray and thought which one of these are “my” watch and I couldn’t pick one. I knew I couldn’t just do one so it seems three watch collections are a thing. I’d keep my speedy pro as I’ve had one speedmaster or another for over 20 years and it feels special to me so the special watch was sorted. I needed a work watch but it needed to be tough and special and I settled on a sinn u50 SDR fully tegamented on a bracelet. And for my daily watch I thought a gmt would be a good fit so decision made feeling good I sold every thing that wasn’t sentimental or a moonwatch. Bought a black bay GMT and had real problems getting the exact sinn I wanted none for sale on the internet that I could find and long wait to get from sinn direct. The gmt was a failure I didn’t like wearing it. The watch is too slab sided for me it felt huge so that went and in came a seamaster 300 pro and that was perfect but not the gmt. Thought I’d get a sinn 556 while I waited for the u50 and got into a conversation with a seller who was selling one that I was out bid on said he had a spb147 for sale and I thought why not I can move it on when I get my sinn. Oops I’ve had plenty of cheap seiko divers in the past skx turtle and samurai but this thing kicked off a whole new love of seiko divers. I’ve managed to get my sinn at last and found a grand seiko gmt so technically I’ve got my three watch collection but now I’ve got the seiko diver itch as the second photo shows plus I’m waiting for a padi king turtle to arrive
Can I now claim I have a three watch collection because sentimental watches don’t count? Can I claim seiko divers are a separate collection because I’ve a few more I want ?
Does this hobby ever get simple ?

I think I can help you out. Pick 3 watches out of your collection and use those 3 watches as your daily for the month. Then put those away and grab another 3 and wear those for your daily for the next month. Rinse and repeat. It will help with the over thinking and you can keep your watches and maybe buy a few more. 😂
At the moment I’m just wearing the speedmaster all day every day been wearing for 4 weeks and will be wearing it for another 4 yet having daily treatment at the hospital and sitting and winding my speedy before treatment helps my routine and adds a little bit of calm. Sounds like a plan if I get to have more watches without the collection getting bigger than 3 😂
