This whole "social media influencer" thing is so strange!

On Youtube and other sites, you come across all these people flaunting extravagant lifestyles - vacations in tropical paradises, Lamborghinis, trips on private jets, loud and shouty fashion accessories, etc., etc.

But, in the real world, that's just not how rich people behave! Nobody I know flaunts their wealth. For the most part, everyone tries to discreetly hide it. I mean, you generally know that they're wealthy and high status, and because everyone else around you is as well, nobody makes a big deal about it. It would be like running around and calling attention to the fact that you have 2 hands! Who cares? Everyone else in the room has 2 hands!

Like, I've seen videos of people showing off their big homes, and they'll have ridiculous stuff like this...

But, it's almost a parody! Like, it's what a poor person thinks rich people have!

So weird. I'd never heard of the Timepiece Gentleman until all these threads started showing up on WC. I'm a big believer in "rapid cognition." I went ahead and clicked on a couple of his previous videos. I mean, genuinely, just from 2 seconds of video my gut would simply say, "Oh, this dude is either a) incidentally rich - like a music star or pro athlete, or b) a fraud."

It's craziness to me that people actually believe this is how someone with money would really behave / talk in real life!

Dude, it's MARKETING! He says so himself and he has such an honest face.

Yeah, there is nothing trustworthy about this shyster whatsoever and I am amazed that even mouthbreathing imbeciles don't see through it.

Actually, his rationalizations are so inane that I must quote them in their entirety.

I get criticized for buying expensive cars rather than putting that money into the business, say I’m buying a depreciating asset just so I can FLEX

Here are my thoughts and reasonings:

1. Every time I pull up somewhere, people stop and look. When I get out of the car, I’m wearing a branded hoodie or T-Shirt promoting my business. That’s called Marketing.

2. I’m a member of several private car groups that only car owners get to participate in. This means I’m hanging out with other people that can afford 6-figure cars. These are potential clients. That’s called Marketing.

3. When people see a Lambo or Ferrari they pull their phones out and snap a picture or video. I have my logo and social media info posted on the car(I’m about to do a full wrap on the Lambo with my IG handle). People will visit my page and bump engagement. That’s called Marketing.

4. Exotic cars are a FLEX. People like to FLEX. People enjoy watching content with flashy stuff in it. Take an extremely educational video telling you how to start a business and a simple video of a Ferrari driving down the street and see which one gets more views. That’s called Marketing.

5. Exotic cars and fine watches are conversation starters. They open doors and present opportunities you wouldn’t have gotten as easily. (EX: Being invited to a music video shoot and meeting several new potential clients)

6. I like nice things. It pushes me to work harder than most people because I don’t believe anything is out of reach.

7. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Stop telling yourself you’ll start enjoying you’re life when you retire.

I’m not telling anyone to go buy a Ferrari. I’m not giving anyone financial advice. I’m not telling anyone the way they choose to live life is wrong.

I’m telling you how I think and why I do the things I choose to do, that’s it.

Occam's Razor tells us that this is a self-indulgent egotist of an ex-con that overspends such that he repeatedly must resort to fraudulent scams and is arrogant enough to think he can lie and charm his way out of it again and again.

I still don't know who this guy is...🤷🏻.

Apparently watching microbrand reviews, the occasional Marc at Long Island Watch video, OAFnation, The Shawn Ryan Show, and Critic Role has left me completely out of whatever loop I need to be in to be a real enthusiast.

Oh well, hey there's a new Hammer and Bolter episode review...🤔🫣😎

Yes, there were several pro wrestlers that did this exact same shtick. Even people that got hit in the head for a living knew it was tongue-in-cheek and meant to make them unlikable. I guess maybe underclass preteens fall for it?

Besides the presumption that he is under the influence of a few addictions, it also seems that he was really hoping for someone to offer him a reality show (and he was naive enough to think that would pay well enough to cover all his past lavish foolishness).

Kim K and Ray J “private” tape accidentally leaked. That’s called Marketing. No difference.

You mean anyone over 40 IQ.

It's not an age thing. Hype culture in social media mostly targets low education, low income people that can more easily be tricked by marketing chimps to spend their hard earned money on an expensive experience or item just to take pictures for instagram. And remain poor in the process. It's a vicious circle.

This is very true. Most of the really wealthy people that I know, and I grew up with, well they spend a lot of money and effort to make sure that their wealth is not apparent or obvious.

I only saw displays of wealth, either real or made up, on social media. But as they say:
