I’ve always liked watches but saw them more as semi status signals. I had an Omega Seamaster for years, but partly enabled by a watch enthusiast friend, bought a couple more. I couldn’t get my head around the cost of all these once I’d bought them, but found myself drawn to the much cheaper (and I thought cool) Seiko SKX randomly. I sold all my Omegas and bought a few SKX and Seiko custom stuff but also got drawn into the Seiko story more and broader watch scene.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Probably a Casio digital- feels a long time ago
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My grandfather’s watch. Currently being restored. Not sure exactly what it is - not an expensive watch but does have a Swiss movement. My local jeweller is documenting the work and wants to look more into its history.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Earn more money
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I’m q focused on Seiko and GS
really but have flirted with Tudor. Does G-Shock count?
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
I don’t really have one tbh. My taste seems to evolve so who knows…
