I love watches and especially the history of watches. I’m particularly interested in microbrands like Nodus, Raven and Halios, purpose-built watches like Doxa, Tudor Subs and FXD, and military era field and Pilot watches like the IWC Mark xi and Smiths w10.
I’ve always been interested in time and keeping time and I’ve always had a watch on my wrist. What really got me down the rabbit hole was researching a vintage watch to get my wife for our first anniversary. I wound up getting her a vintage Cartier Tank and in the process of doing the research fell in love with horology and learning about watches.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
I don’t remember. It may have been a Timex. But I remember what the dial looked like and I think I was about 5 years old.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Take your time. Read all you can. Ask questions. And avoid impulse purchases.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
IWC, Doxa, Tudor, Oak and Oscar, Bremont, Vertex, and Tornek-Rayville
